From JPipitone@cogeco.ca Toronta Canada

Hi Tim.

My son sent me the link to your website. It looks like something I wanted to do awhile back. Thanks for putting it up.

I am originally from Vita, Sicily a small town near Salemi and emigrated with my family to Toronto in 1952. There are a few Pipitone's here all from the same village. I have googled my name and was surprised how far the name has spread worldwide.

My son sent me the family tree name as you suggested on your website after doing some research in Torino.

Anyway, best of luck with your website. I will check in now and then and see how the Pipitone name is spreading. Also, Often I used Pepitone just because it was easier for other people to use.

Best wishes,

Joe (Giuseppe) Pipitone

Dear Tim and Andy,
    Are your LoBues from Prizzi?
The LoBue that connects into our line is Antonino LoBue born 5 Feb 1884 died 10 Mar 1970, and who married in 1913 Girolama Ferrara in Trindad, Las Animas Co, CO.  They were both born in Prizzi, Palermo, Sicily.  They had John, Martha, Mike, Joe, and Menie.  Antonino had at least 2 brothers, I believe Joseph (Giuseppe) and John (Giovanni).
What information do you have on LoBues?  There are a lot of them in Prizzi, so if you could let me know what ones you are looking for further info on, that may be a help.

steve_vizzini@msn.com,

Hi Tim,

I noticed your Tarantino from Palermo and I'm hoping you might have a clue
about my ancestor Nicolo Tarantino.

We have no idea where Nicolo was born, but he eventually settled in New
Orleans and married Rosa Manfré from Ustica. They were married before 1867,
because starting in April of 1867, they were having children in New Orleans
including my Great Grandmother Catherine Tarantino.

From the names of the children, it's possible that Nicolo's parents were
Francesco and either Francesca or Caterina.

The only record of his specific origin is one Louisiana birth record where
the recorder gave his birthplace as "Cicillia (Palerme)". The rest all just
say Sicily or Italy.

Nicolo and Rosa may have spent some time in New York, but that's only
speculation right now.

The marriage apparently did not take place in Ustica or Louisiana, since
there's no record of it in either place. However, there were some Tarantinos
in Ustica around that time. I haven't exhausted the Ustica records yet.
There may still be something there.

We've exhausted the Louisiana birth, marriage, immigration, naturalization,
obituaries, and death records and still can't determine his origin. The
Ustica possibility is our last hope unless something like this email turns
up a connection. Any help or information you can tell us about the
Tarantinos in Palermo would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve Vizzini

 wheninitaly@cox.net,

Hi Tim
My grandfather was Vincent James Pepitone.  His family I believe was from Misilmeri Italy. My grandfather lived in Brookly and was in construction. He had a sister named Angelina and a brother names Antonio I think. I am trying to find links to my family.

Sincerely

 edmkozakjr@yahoo.com,

Tim,

I saw a post of yours at Sicilian Family Tree.  How far back have you been able to search your Pipitone family in Misilmeri?  I'm doing my wife's genealogy and she has some Pipitones as direct ancestors: Maria Pipitone, b. abt. 1818, d. abt. 1871  who married Giuseppe Traina in 1839.  Maria's parents were Angelo Pipitone and Rosa Agnello.

 markmichele1@bellsouth.net,

Hello Tim,

I don't know much about the Pipitone tree - but I've been able to get information from Ellis Island records and also from the US Census records.
This is what I've found - Rosa Pipitone, born about 1848, married Rosario Levatino, born 1839. Came to America in 1896/1897 with their two daughters
Catterina, born 1880 and Francesca, born 1885 (my great grandmother).  It says that they also had a son, Guiseppe, who was already in America. According
to the Census records, Rosa had 8 children, of which only 3 were alive at the time of the census.  They were from Misilmeri.  They first settled in NYC, and then
settled in Poughkeepsie, NY.  I believe Guiseppe settled in Connecticut.

digitaldesignsink@cox.net,

 Timothy,

I am looking for family that came from Monreale, Italy. They came on the ship on the SS Montebello out of Palermo in 1897 and arrived in New Orleans. Their names were Vincenzo Piro, he was married to Angela Tumminello, they came with their three daughters and one son. A Michelle, Vincenzo, Salvatore Pipitore from Monreale were also on that ship and perhaps they knew my family. Any information would be gladly accepted. My grandfather was the one son.
Thank You,
Suzanne Piro
